So I do realize that confessing things are good to get out, but you can not tell your spouse everything. But it just so happens that I can talk to my wife about how I just so happen to love her friend. The funny thing is I am in love with more than one of her friends. I am love with so many of my wife’s friends that I probably will have to make this a series in itself and a tribute to women in her circle. This segment will be dedicated to what I call the women who helped to lay the Foundation. These women are the DC Crew!! Lisa Williams @wivesonpurpose on Twitter is one that I love so dearly. She conducts a National conference call every Monday night and brings women from all over together to pray for their wonderful husbands. She is a woman of strength and has a wonderful story and I love the fact that my wife can go to her and get ‘what God would say’ and not ‘what Beyonce would say.’ Another friend of my wife who I love is Monica Utsey!! Monica is a mother to two boys with a husband who had a near death encounter that left his permanently disabled. I remember a picture she sent out of them at the lake with her holding Eric up in the water. His accident happened about 5 years ago and she is still holding him up and I love an appreciate her for that, but she also played a huge part in the woman I am married to becoming who she is today. You see Monica was part of the Natural hair, baby wearing, breast feeding, homeschooling…freaks women we met in DC before leaving and our lives have not been the same. There were a couple that really stuck out to me and so I will mention them. Christine Walker…happy birthday. This women is holding it down for her son and she is the BIGGEST Boston Celtics(NBA basketball) fan I have ever seen. You know you worry about little boys with their mommy, but not this mommy. She is a smart one and the world better watch out because she is cuurrrazy. Then there is Renee Wright! The woman who knows everyone on the planet and is raising the most beautiful & intelligent children. Renee has a spirit that will cause you to at least consider her way of doing something just based on her presentation and delivery…even if you had made the mistake of saying in the past, “I would never do that.” LA KIM…well she lives in LA now but I met her in Herndon, VA. To much to say and I don’t want her to blush, but thanks for your contributions and if you ever see my wife in a baby wrap you like just let us know and we will have Kim hook you up! And in closing, I want to shout out DeLise! The reason I really like her is because she is the only one that has been to visit our home in the ATL…(even though everyone else says they are coming)…no really. DeLise was my find. I met her while volunteering at a non-profit in DC. My wife says she was one of the 5 best things I have ever done…or did she say only 5…Well, I cant remember, but I think she is great and doing a great job with Mr. RJ.
You know I have known my wife for over 26 years and she has always surrounded herself with women that I love and women I felt were marriage material. This is powerful because she could be the type of wife to always be the person with the answer for everyone and never receive any growth. Well my wife is not that person and this allows her to continue seeking growth which keeps our family growing.
I just wanted to take this time out to say thanks to the women who have played and continue to play such a major role in the life of my wife and my daughters. I thank God for all of you and even the ones I did not mention who were part of the organization that I talk pure trash about…just because that is how I do.
So note to single men….Make sure that you know who your female friend is hanging out with and if the only friends she has are the 4 that you would not marry…you may want to check on her. As they say in the Twitter world…#imjustsayin
Thanks for stoppin
ODC
p.s. DeLise…Stop giving my wife all those Cloth Diaper referrals! She has enough…:)
Dangerous title, but great and very true post. I concur.
Yeah I figured after everyone falls out their chair….
Love this!!!
Oh the ATL series is coming…
Stay tuned..
I like Monica already and I’ve never met her!
Great post. One I think I’ll keep handy to show my sons.
Thanks and maybe I will go work on having a son so I can show him. 🙂 Don’t tell my wife I said that.
I’d think about lending you one, after working out I’m going to need a dozen eggs just for ONE breakfast! I think their father might object though! 😆
WOW! I never thought about that! The money I save on food for having all girls…but I guess one day it will just be spent on shoes huh?
LOL – no, not just boys for the food – but 6 of us, 2 eggs = 1 dozen. Besides, it has been such a battle to get them home, I don’t think I could part with one, let alone their father!
Yeah she is great and I always tell her that one day I am going to move her family next door to mine!
And we love you too, Mike! Seriously, though, Dawn is my mommy role model! With everything she has going on, she’s never been too busy to take my calls, respond to my emails, chat on Facebook/Twitter, or just respond to a quick text. I love her energy…her dedication to her family…her intelligence. I wish I could bottle up her “self-motivation” and drink a gallon of it! I love Dawn’s transparency! She always tells me “the real deal” and never puts up facades. If we lived closer, I’m sure we’d shop for cloth diapers every weekend 🙂 LOL She’s the big sister my mommy should have had 🙂
That last comment just got you taken out of the post! Update to follow!
J/K…Thanks DeLise Your the best and I can’t wait to meet your husband. Maybe in August
And I love you and Dawn right back! Thanks for always encouraging me and Stuart and for being such great prayer warriors yourselves. It is a blessing to know you and call you both friends. PS: I really am coming to Georgia.. one day
HA HA. Love it! i wanna add , a personal pat on the back to Nana JuJu who saved you from too many helpings of Black Beans via Nana JuJu’s Cook Day. If you moved into the house behind me that’s for sale, she’d have access to personal cooking lessons and a homeschooling co-op just a fence hop away. Just sayin… But then again, there was that bad example I set for women when I took my kids and ran away from home to New Mexico without telling hubby where I was going. Does that count against me?
Wow, I just saw this. I’m so honored Mike. Your blog is a blessing and one of the few I take the time to read even though there are no graphics. Keep up the good work. I look up to your family too!
Was that a jab at my blog? I think so. Or was it an offer to help me out?
